Women's History Month starts at New Haven Public Library
Librarian Sheila Bonnenberger displays her own direct connection to women's history with a grandmother who was an "ardent" supporter of women's rights. Stop by to see the St. Louis Globe Democrat photo of Mrs. Dietz in action with other suffragettes in Sept. 14, 1920 parade.

Connecticut Health Foundation Accepting Applications for Health Leadership Fellows Program
The 2011 Health Leadership Fellows program is designed to foster, support, and promote a generation of leaders committed to reducing racial and ethnic health disparities in Connecticut. The one-year (September 2010 to June 2011) knowledge and skill-building program is designed to create leaders, particularly racial and ethnic community leaders, who represent a variety of public and private sectors in public policy, health practice, healthcare administration, community, law, business and commerce, advocacy, academia, or any other related field.
Each year, the program selects up to twenty fellows who make a one-year commitment to attend two weekend retreats, monthly seminars, and other education activities. Fellows will receive a stipend of $1000 to aid their personal or professional development. Fellows who are employed by nonprofit organizations will receive a $250 gift for their employer.

Women’s Business Development Center (WBDC) is a not-for-profit organization provides programs, workshops, one-on-one consulting, financial coaching and special events. Main office is in Stamford with training sites in other cities and towns throughout CT.

- prepare, present, facilitate, instruct and coordinate the delivery of WBDC’s Business Plan writing program for new and aspiring entrepreneurs in nine 3-hour classroom sessions and three 3-hour group counseling sessions (12 sessions total)
- Develop and implement in-class exercises and activities geared toward developing a business plan. (curriculum provided)
- Counsel clients regarding their business; serve as a liaison between client and WBDC and refer clients to other WBDC resources as needed to benefit the client
- Other tasks related to this initiative, as needed.

On Saturday, May, 8, from 8:30 am to 5 pm the seventh annual Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association (CAPA) presents the CAPA-University professional development conference at Hartford Steam Boiler. Conference features the writing team of Drs. Henry Lee and Jerry Labriola, top literary agents representing a variety of genres, educational speakers and workshops for emerging and established fiction and nonfiction writers. Gateway launches new course in grantwriting for workforce and economic development Feb. 12
Fridays 12:30-2:30pm, students will explore the process of preparing and submitting a grant proposal, esp. for funding opportunities through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), other federal and state programs, foundations, etc. This program will cover creating partnerships, innovative ideas, leadership strategies, and organizational growth and sustainability.
